Cercle, the first circular wine from the Balearic Islands, is born, the result of the collaboration between Arabella Hospitality, Macià Batle and TIRME

'Cercle' is the name of the first circular wine in the Balearic Islands, a creation that is the result of the collaboration between Arabella Hospitality, Macià Batle and Tirme.

The organic waste generated at St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort, Castillo Hotel Son Vida and Sheraton Mallorca Arabella Golf Hotel is treated in the facilities managed by Tirme and converted into organic compost, which nourishes the vineyards of the Macià Batle winery. The grapes ripen there, which months later give colour, aroma and texture to Cercle Blanc and Cercle Rosat, two wines that are the result of the circular economy. It is, therefore, a project that integrates the three productive sectors into its production: primary, secondary and tertiary.

Exclusive editions of a thousand bottles

The first production consists of a thousand bottles for each type of wine. Cercle Blanc is one hundred percent native variety Prensal Blanc. Yellow in colour and marked tears, its floral notes, aromas of fruit, noble wood and mineral notes, characteristic of the call vermell soil typical of Mallorca, stand out. On the palate it is elegant, tasty and fresh.

Cercle Rosat, on the other hand, is born from the Mantonegro and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. With a pale pinkish color, its aromas evoke fresh fruits such as strawberry and raspberry and on the palate it is soft, fresh and fine.

The next production will have a novelty: the creation of Cercle Negre.

Commitment to the land

The St. Regis Mardavall, Castillo Hotel Son Vida and Sheraton Mallorca hotels are part of the FINHAVA programme, the circular economy platform promoted by Tirme and Circulare, which aims to promote the circular economy, a production and consumption model that advocates a change in the current waste management model.

Francisco Vila, CEO of Arabella Hospitality indicates that "our customers value local products, and above all, being able to know that their origin has such a positive impact on the environment".

For his part, Ramón Servalls, managing director of Macià Batle, explains that "we are very satisfied that our lands produce the first circular wine in the Balearic Islands and to be part of a project like this, together with sustainability".

Finally, Antonio Pons, general manager of TIRME, stressed that "this project is completely aligned with our strategic plan, as it is committed to implementing a true circular economy on our island and promotes alliances between various productive sectors".

The artist Belén Escutia has designed the Cercle label. Taking the word that gives the wine its name as a reference, he has created an illustration that includes "that circular process using highly diluted acrylics and in which all the steps that have been followed to make the wine are represented. You just have to follow the drawing counterclockwise."

Now all that remains is to taste a wine that carries the land of Mallorca in its essence and that has the honour of being the first circular wine of the Islands.
