The Conselleria de Medi Ambient i Territori del Govern de les Illes Balears has awarded Tirme a subsidy worth 6.7 million euros from the European Next Generation Funds to carry out the project of Expansion of the Methanization Plant - Phase III, which will increase the treatment capacity of organic matter in Mallorca. After the completion of these works, the treatment capacity of this facility will be 94,000 t/year.
In the methanation plant, biogas is produced from the anaerobic digestion of the organic fraction from selective collection in municipalities and specific producers, through which 100% renewable energy is generated. With the resulting solid matter, called digestate, compost is produced, which allows us to improve the quality of our fields. The start of commissioning of the facility is scheduled for June 2023.
